To achieve economic, educational, social, ethnic, and racial equity for all Arkansans we need broad systemic change. In 2019, 2 in 5 Arkansas families could not meet their basic needs for food, housing, health care, transportation and childcare. This data point reflects a more accurate picture of how many Arkansans struggle financially compared to the outdated Federal Poverty Level guidelines—which our policymakers use far too frequently. We need to change the conversation around this economic reality to create a groundswell of support for policy change, so that everyone can thrive in a healthy state economy.
This toolkit is for advocates to use to socialize the ALICE in Arkansas report, particularly with policymakers. We encourage you to use the sample social media content and messaging guidance below to advocate for the policy change your organization is seeking during the 2021 legislative session
